Chuck Berry, “a rock and roll pioneer”, is most remembered as the musician, songwriter, and performer who crossed racial barriers in the musical industry similar to Jackie Robinson in baseball. America’s young white audience loved his upbeat and danceable music. He has been imitated by many superstars such as the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. The Voyager I space probe carried along an excerpt from his song, Johnny B. Goode, as an example of American culture. In 1986, Berry was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the inaugural group of musicians to do so.
