If you look hard enough you’ll be able to see the contrast of the two sets of electrical lines going across the photo. I remember servicemen working on the poles last year but had no idea what they were doing. While out walking a few weeks ago I noticed the aesthetic appeal of the fading grey wires into the sky (they’re at the top of photo). The grey ones make for better photos and beautification of the city when there are no harsh lines going across the scene.
So this is my entry for the weekly photo theme: CONTRAST
(click to enlarge for better view)
There are two sets of power lines, grey and black. Can you see the grey ones? (top of photo)
“How all becomes clear and simple when one opens an eye on the within, having of course previously exposed it to the without, in order to benefit by the contrast.” ~ Samuel Beckett

I like this minimalistic take on the contrast-challenge!

Nice choice for contrast! I do like how the new power lines sort of fade into the scene. Many beautiful nature scenes have been marred by lines criss-crossing the view. It’s part of the price we pay for modern conveniences though.
If you didn’t tell us to look I never would have noticed the top lines!
I am often wondering or trying to remember what places would look like without all the utility wires
that hamper the enjoyment of views. Thank you for pointing out the upper set of wires and the contrast between the lines.
Peace,
Siggi in Downeast Maine

i had to look at the large-size view to see the grey wires – and i agree with you!
even so, your tree in silhouette makes for a nice contrast to the blue sky in the background.
thanks for sharing. 🙂
What a great eye to catch this in the first place. You did capture contrast! Debra
the tree is very impressive!!!
great idea! lets hope they do more grey lines 🙂 http://wp.me/p296YA-3Y
Brilliant, its obvious really isn’t it?I wonder why no-one thought of that before! I’ve spent lots of time editing out cables from otherwise beautiful scenes. 🙂

nice picture to represent the great quotes 🙂
Nice pic! I hope the lines are replaced all over. Makes for much better pictures.
yes gray vs. blue – but there is also a contrast between organic tree lines and electric cable lines …
Couldn’t spot the grey ones at first sight, but noticed them when you mentioned it. Very clever!

Where I live, phone poles and wires are a colossal nuissance to photography. I wish it was like England for that. They run moset of their cables underground so you can shoot vertually anywhere without including an unsightly web in your images.
It’s the contrast in life that spice up thinks. They make anything interesting and wonderful. Beautiful image. The clear blue sky in contrast to the pure white clouds caught my attention. Just a sight to behold.

Knowing that they’re there —
I STILL can’t see them!
Wish they had invisible lines in my neighborhood —
Hi, Touch! I’m sorry you can’t see them. They’re running left to right across the top of the photo. If you look at the crown of the tree first you might be able to spot them better or by moving your screen back and forth. Did you try clicking on the photo to enlarge it?
It’s really nice that someone thought of that idea and began implementing it in the neighborhoods. Hopefully they’ll make their way to your neighborhood soon.
I’m glad you were able to stop by. Much appreciated. 🙂
Enlarging the photo did it!
But that really is an amazing phenomenon — and such a good idea.
